The quartet led by Javier Navas is a visit to an authentic jazz repertoire full of modernity, a group where Javier’s vibraphone develops with greater doses of expression and energy.

Since 2014, Javier has been working with a rhythmic section of proven musical quality. Juan Galiardo (Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Magnarelli, Dick Oatts, Dave Santoro, Gregory Hutchinson) on piano. Bori Albero (Chano Domínguez, Lee Konitz, Dado Moroni, Barry Harris) on double bass. And Dani Domínguez (Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Perico Sambeat, Kase.O) on drums. The group has created its own language through more than one hundred concerts in these years, interpreting a wide repertoire under the authorship of Javier Navas; repertoire that is underpinned in 2016 with the arrival of Enrique Oliver on the tenor saxophone to complete the front line, turning the quartet into a heterogeneous group of five members.

Through concert tours and various sessions, all this work naturally crystallizes in the publication of the band’s first album, Finally in my hands (Ambar Records, 2016). With an excellent reception from critics and the public, this work allows the group to visit a large part of the Spanish geography, in more than fifty presentation concerts (Jamboree Jazz Club, Jimmy Glass, Recoletos Jazz Club, Málaga Winter Festival, Elcercano, Filloa Jazz Club, Nova Jazz Cava) and tours around Aragon, Galicia, Catalonia or Andalusia.

As a result of this good reception, they are selected for a nine-concert tour at the II Cicuito Andajazz, where different jazz professionals in Andalusia choose different projects for presentation through the entire community. This tour comes to an end in November 2017, concluding the Finally in my hands stage.

The following record work, Fresh start (Autoedition, 2018) supposes the definitive consolidation of its own language, of a personal voice, both in the compositions and in the group’s own sound. Months before its recording, the group is included in the AIE Artistas en Ruta program to tour Spain in the fall of 2018. This tour coincides with the official presentation of Fresh start throughout the country, allowing the group to perform fifteen concerts of presentation, including important clubs and autumn festivals (OFF Jimmy Glass Festival, Malaga Open Jazz Festival, Lugo International Jazz Festival, Ciclo 1906, La Bilbaína Auditorium Cycle).
